One Day Workshop on “ Interior Modelling using SketchUp and Lumion software”

A one-day hands-on workshop on Interior Modelling using SketchUp and Lumion software was successfully conducted for the Second Year students with the objective of enhancing their skills in 3D modelling and architectural visualization. The workshop aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application in planning, design, and presentation.

The program began with an introductory session highlighting the importance of digital tools in modern engineering and architectural practices. The resource person introduced SketchUp as an intuitive 3D modelling software used for creating building models, layouts, and structural components. Students were guided through the basic interface, drawing tools, push–pull features, component creation, and model organization. Hands-on exercises helped students develop simple building models efficiently.

In the second session, Lumion software was demonstrated for real-time rendering and visualization. Students learned how to import SketchUp models into Lumion, apply materials, lighting effects, landscaping elements, and create realistic environments. The session also covered camera views, animation basics, and rendering techniques to produce professional-quality visual outputs.

The workshop was highly interactive, with students actively participating in live demonstrations and practical exercises. Real-world examples and project-based illustrations helped students understand the application of these tools in academic projects and professional practice.

The workshop concluded with a feedback session, where students expressed that the program significantly improved their understanding of 3D modelling and visualization techniques. Overall, the workshop was informative, engaging, and beneficial in equipping students with essential software skills relevant to their future academic and professional endeavours.
