Department of MCA

About the Department

The Department of Master of Computer Applications (MCA), established in 2001 with an initial intake of 40 students, offers a two-year full-time postgraduate programme. The curriculum is carefully designed to meet evolving industry requirements and includes a comprehensive blend of core subjects, specialization courses, mini projects, employability-focused training, and application-oriented learning. The syllabus is regularly updated to incorporate the latest advancements in technology. In addition, the Computer Applications Association actively organizes industrial seminars, workshops, and guest lectures to enrich students’ academic experience. Soft skills and programming training are also integral components of the programme.

Students are consistently encouraged to engage in self-directed learning through mini projects, student seminars, and major project work. The department houses a well-equipped library with over 10,000 volumes, including books, magazines, back issues, project reports, CDs/DVDs, daily newspapers, previous years’ question papers (since 2001), and both national and international journals. To further enhance subject knowledge, the library provides access to NPTEL video resources through online platforms.
The department is supported by a highly qualified, dedicated, and service-oriented faculty team. Faculty members provide continuous guidance to students, particularly in addressing software-related challenges. They possess expertise in areas such as Cloud Computing, Data Analytics, Neural Networks, Python Programming, Blockchain Technologies, and Image Processing, and hold certifications from IBM, Infosys Springboard and NPTEL.
The department actively promotes student participation in curricular, co-curricular, extracurricular, and sports activities. Faculty and students collaboratively contribute to the development of software applications that support various institutional needs. Faculty members are also life members of ISTE and members of other professional societies like IEEE, IEANG, etc., reflecting their commitment to professional development.
To support academic and research activities, the department is equipped with two modern laboratories featuring the latest software, along with Wi-Fi connectivity and uninterrupted power supply (UPS), ensuring a conducive learning environment for both students and faculty.
