The School of Management Studies, Karpagam College of Engineering (KCE), organized a Guest Lecture Programme on the theme “Idea to IPO: A Startup Journey”, aimed at nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit among students and providing them with real-world insights into the startup ecosystem.

The event began with a soulful prayer song, invoking the blessings of the Almighty for the success of the programme. Following this, Ms. Anushiya, a II MBA student, extended a warm welcome to the gathering with her eloquent welcome address. Her words set a positive and vibrant tone for the session, acknowledging the presence of the dignitaries, faculty members, students, and the esteemed guest speaker.

The programme was further enriched by a felicitation ceremony. Dr. C. Meera, Head of the Department, honored the Chief guest with a traditional shawl, symbolizing respect and gratitude. In her address, she highlighted the importance of understanding the entrepreneurial journey, emphasizing that management education must go beyond theory and encourage students to embrace innovation, risk-taking, and leadership.

The highlight of the day was the guest lecture delivered by Mr. Shameer, Founder of Bythe Startup Community. Drawing from his own entrepreneurial experiences, Mr. Shameer presented an engaging session on the transformation of a business idea into an Initial Public Offering (IPO). He shed light on the critical stages of the entrepreneurial journey—conceptualization, market validation, funding, scaling, and finally, going public. His talk was enriched with practical examples, success stories, and challenges faced by startups, making the session highly relatable and inspiring.

The interactive nature of the lecture encouraged students to ask questions, clarifying their doubts about entrepreneurship, funding opportunities, and the challenges of sustaining a startup in today’s competitive market. The session provided participants with valuable takeaways on resilience, innovation, networking, and strategic planning, all of which are essential for budding entrepreneurs.

At the conclusion of the programme, Dr. M. Sathya, Programme Coordinator, delivered the Vote of Thanks. She expressed heartfelt gratitude to the esteemed speaker, the management, the faculty members, and the enthusiastic students for their active participation. She acknowledged the contributions of everyone who worked behind the scenes to make the event a resounding success.

The programme witnessed the active participation of more than 60 MBA students, who not only gained knowledge on entrepreneurial strategies but also drew motivation to pursue their own innovative ideas with confidence. The lecture served as a platform for bridging the gap between academic learning and practical entrepreneurial exposure.

In conclusion, the Guest Lecture on “Idea to IPO: A Startup Journey” was a fruitful and enlightening experience for the students of the School of Management Studies. It successfully achieved its objective of inspiring young minds to think creatively, act boldly, and contribute to the entrepreneurial landscape of the nation.
