About the Department

The Department of Master of Computer Applications was established in 2001 with an intake of 40 students. It offers a two year regular MCA programme. The programme offers a number of in-depth core courses, specialization courses, Mini project, employability courses and application-oriented courses. The syllabus and courses are updated frequently with the latest industrial technologies. The curriculum of MCA is designed to meet the Industry needs. The Computer Applications Association organizes Industrial seminars, workshops and guest lectures apart from the curriculum. In addition to that, soft skills and programming training are provided to the students.

Students of MCA are being consistently encouraged to perform self learning related activities through Mini project works and Student Seminars. The Department has a separate library which has more than 12,000 book titles and Volumes. It also contains Magazines, Back volumes, Project reports, CDs/DVDs, Daily Newspapers, Previous years Question papers, (from 2001), National and International Journals. To update the subject knowledge, the department library offers access to NPTEL videos through url. The department has a competent and service oriented faculty team. Faculty members help the students in guiding software related problems.

Faculties are highly qualified with expertise knowledge in Cloud Computing, Data Analytics, Neural Networks, Python Programming, Block Chain Technologies and Image Processing. They are certified by IBM and NPTEL. The department encourages students to participate in Curricular, Co-curricular, Extra-Curricular and Sports activities. To help college related activities, staff and students have developed software applications. Staff members of MCA department are life members of ISTE. The department has two well equipped laboratories upgraded with the latest softwares and online UPS provided to facilitate the need of the students and staff.

Programme Educational Objectives

  • PEO 1: Graduates will be competent enough to identify, analyze, design and develop software solutions to the problems in the field.

PO1 Computational Knowledge

Apply knowledge of computing fundamentals, computing specialisation, mathematics, and domain knowledge appropriate for the computing specialisation to the abstraction and conceptualisation of computing models from defined problems and requirements.

PO2 Problem Analysis

Identify, formulate, research literature, and solve complex computing problems reaching substantiated conclusions using fundamental principles of mathematics, computing sciences, and relevant domain disciplines.

PO3 Design / Development of Solutions

Design and evaluate solutions for complex computing problems, and design and evaluate systems, components, or processes that meet specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
